October 4th 2017
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2017 Action Forum, held yesterday at the Stoney Creek Inn. What an incredible morning with great conversation and insight. As promised, Ilsa has shared her presentation with us. It is attached below.
We also want to extend a big thank you to our guests:
Don Moffitt - former Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives
Pat Verschoore - former Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives
Jim Niedelman - WHBF, broadcast journalist
Tara Barney - Executive Director, QC Chamber of Commerce
Isla Flanagan - FrameWorks Institute
Check out some pictures from our morning!
When: Monday, January 23, 2017
8:30 - 11:00 am
Where: Stoney Creek Inn. Moline, IL
Coffee, juice, donuts and fruit will be provided.
Part 1: Pat Verschoore and Don Moffitt, retiring state representatives will join us to share their insight about the coming years. As they leave, what recommendations do they have for non-profit agencies navigating this environment?
Part 2: Consultant Ilsa Flanagan (FrameWorks Institute) will report on the National Human Services Assembly's multi-year initiative to disrupt and shift the public discourse on human needs. Ilsa is a National expert on mobilizing communities to build a deeper public support for human services. Ilsa uses research-based communications from the FrameWorks Institute to show which values and mataphors help the public and policy makers think more productively about systemic solutions to complex issues such as aging, homelessness, mental health and youth development.
Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 in New York City, and has since grown nationally! This year marks the 5th Annual Giving Tuesday and the Quad Cities participates in full force! Donations allow not-for-profit organizations to fill the gaps and continue to provide support and services for our community. Why do you give?
The Quad Cities Open Network and the River Bend Food Bank were featured on the Channel 4 news for Giving Tuesday. Watch the clip here!
